Mother in ICU after throwing daughter out of burning apartment
Five people were injured in the apartment fire, including a mother who saved her daughter by throwing her from a second-story window, police said.
- On Friday morning, a fire at a Milwaukee apartment building near Loomis and Fardale left five people injured, and a mother threw her daughter from a second-story window to safety.
- Authorities arrested Keith Alan Luko on Jan. 16 after prosecutors said he admitted to pouring gasoline and igniting it, allegedly upset about neighbors smoking marijuana.
- The mother remains in the ICU under heavy sedation and on a breathing tube while Ni'lah was released with minor injuries, and Luis Ramirez, the father, said 'We are 50/50 right now'.
- Prosecutors filed seven felony charges including arson of a building, first-degree reckless injury, and five counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety.
- Ramirez has set up a GoFundMe as the family heals; three days after the fire he said he's grateful his daughter is okay while local news pledged ongoing coverage.
