Morrisons Confirms Axing of Christmas Staple From Cafes After More than 20 Years
Morrisons replaces its 20-year Christmas dinner tradition with a Winter Warmer menu featuring classics like liver and onions to refresh its cafe offerings, the company said.
- This year, Morrisons will not offer a Christmas dinner in its Cafes across the UK, marking a notable change in its seasonal menu.
- Morrisons launched the Winter Warmer Menu to replace Christmas dinner, with Mr Baitieh saying the changes are a 'necessary part' of plans to renew and invest, the company said.
- The Winter Warmer Menu features liver and onions, minced beef stew, ham hock with mash and peas, festive sandwiches, toasties, panettone bread and butter pudding, mince pies and iced Christmas cake.
- The move accompanies a wave of closures including 52 store cafes, with Mr Baitieh saying, `Although these changes are relatively small in the context of the overall scale of the Morrisons business, we do not take lightly the disruption and uncertainty they will cause to some of our colleagues.`
- From December 4, Morrisons will introduce Talking Tills, part of Good Morning Britain’s '1 Million Minutes' campaign, to encourage community conversations, said David Scott, Corporate Affairs Director.
