More than 50 years after mother's murder, her daughter is taking on the case
Her daughter says the 3,000-page file shows dozens of interviews and still-missing evidence as investigators have ruled out further BCA review.
Joelle Aguirre recently obtained her mother's 3,000-page investigative file from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, detailing the unsolved 1971 homicide of 23-year-old Terry Jean Brady.
Terry Brady disappeared on May 2, 1971, after missing her daughter's birthday; her body was found days later in the Minnesota River near the Bloomington Ferry Bridge with signs of strangulation.
The BCA Cold Case Unit retains 29 pieces of evidence, though a 2007 report noted critical items were unaccounted for and officials confirmed no further investigation will occur.
Aguirre expressed frustration over missing evidence, stating, "They can't even tell me where my mom's hands went," and lamented the inability to use modern investigative advancements.
The family hopes renewed interest will lead individuals with information to contact the BCA Tip Line at 1-877-996-6222, keeping the decades-old mystery alive for the daughter who grew up without her mother.
