According to the Lebanese newspaper Al Akhbar, which is affiliated with Hezbollah, the aim is first to discuss the Houthis' humanitarian demands and then attempt to reach a comprehensive agreement.
Lebanon's Al-News newspaper wrote: “Amid developments on the ground in Yemen as regional efforts increase to contain the escalation of the conflict, Saudi Arabia has offered a ceasefire and talks with Ansarallah, while the movement insists on a comprehensive solution that will end the war and siege.
Saudi Arabia conveyed a new proposal to the Yemeni Houthis through the Sultanate of Oman, which includes a two-week ceasefire and the opening of direct talks between Riyadh and the Houthi leadership.

The Omani mediator informed the American and Saudi sides that Ansar Allah had clearly stated that the new measures in Bab al-Mandab, or the Red Sea, would guarantee the security of everyone except Saudi Arabia and its maritime traffic.
