Rockies Trade Former Gold Glove Winner Doyle to White Sox
Doyle won Gold Glove awards in 2023 and 2024, while Chicago also added Luis Castillo and Huascar Brazobán in a three-player deal.
On Monday, the Chicago White Sox acquired two-time Gold Glove outfielder Brenton Doyle from the Colorado Rockies. In exchange, the White Sox sent right-handed pitcher Mason Adams and infielder Carlos Vielma to Colorado.
Because of the emergence of outfielder Jake McCarthy and rookie Cole Carrigg, the Rockies viewed Doyle as expendable. The White Sox sought outfield depth before the trade deadline.
A two-time Gold Glove winner in 2023 and 2024, Doyle is hitting.214 this season after returning from injury. Chicago's return includes Adams, a 26-year-old pitcher, and Vielma, a 16-year-old prospect from Venezuela.
Leading the American League Central with a 59-52 record, the White Sox are preparing for the postseason. This acquisition follows earlier deadline deals for pitcher Luis Castillo and reliever Huascar Brazobán.
On Tuesday, the White Sox will begin a three-game series against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. After that, they return home to host the Cleveland Guardians for three games.
