Mizzou's Viskari Excels on Final Day of NCAA Marana Regional
Viskari improved by four strokes with a 2-over 74, but the Missouri junior remained tied for 64th as the regional heads to Wednesday's final round.
On Tuesday, Mizzou golfer Veikka Viskari competed in the second round of the NCAA Marana Regional in Marana, Arizona, finishing tied for 64th out of 89 athletes.
The top five schools and the lowest individual score from the regional advance to the NCAA Championship in Carlsbad, California, with Arizona currently leading the tournament at 35-under par.
Viskari carded a 2-over-par 74 during the second round, improving by four strokes from his opening day score of 6 over 78 to reach 8 over through two rounds.
Eric Lee and Alabama's William Jennings share the two-day individual lead at 12-under, while North Dakota State's Rylin Petry and Andrew Ballou moved into the top 40 after shooting 2-under 70s.
Wednesday marks the start of the final round for the 54-hole tournament; Viskari is scheduled to tee off at 10:50 a.m. after recording birdies on the fifth, 11th, and 16th holes.
