Mizzou Forward Suspended Indefinitely
Dennis Gates said Carey was suspended for a team-rule violation, while Gunn was ruled ineligible after signing a professional contract in Canada.
On Monday, Missouri coach Dennis Gates announced that forward Jaylen Carey is suspended indefinitely for a "violation of team rules," while transfer CJ Gunn was ruled ineligible by the Southeastern Conference.
Gunn's ineligibility stems from signing a professional contract with the Calgary Surge, where he received $524 for playing in three games; Carey, a transfer from Tennessee, remains sidelined.
With Carey and Gunn unavailable, the Tigers face roster uncertainty heading into Tuesday's season opener against Cleveland State at Mizzou Arena, while Gates declined to elaborate on the suspension.
All-SEC forward Mark Mitchell remains involved in a lawsuit against the NCAA and is currently eligible to play, though his status could change based on future court rulings.
Gates is prioritizing growth for younger players like freshman Toni Bryant and sophomore Bryson Tiller, aiming to avoid roster interruptions while balancing ongoing eligibility challenges.
