Missing Kitchener Kayaker Found Dead in Lake Huron: Police
An overnight search involving marine, aviation and rescue teams ended after the 37-year-old’s body was recovered and he was pronounced dead.
On Sept 6, Ontario Provincial Police recovered the body of a missing 37-year-old Kitchener man from Lake Huron off the shore of Grand Bend, Ont.
The man launched his kayak from Bluewater but failed to return after several hours, prompting police to respond to a missing person report on Saturday afternoon.
Extensive search efforts continued through the night, involving the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, OPP Marine Unit, OPP Emergency Response Team, and OPP Aviation Services.
The man was pronounced deceased upon recovery from the water Sunday morning, while the OPP thanked members of the public who assisted in the search.
