49ers WR Mike Evans Leaves Game Against Commanders with an Achilles Tendon Injury
Evans had three catches for 94 yards before leaving after a 16-yard reception, and the 49ers said he would not return.
On Monday, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Mike Evans left the game against the Washington Commanders with an Achilles tendon injury. The team confirmed he would not return after exiting late in the second quarter.
Evans entered the matchup battling rib and Achilles injuries that prevented him from practicing all week. Despite the designation, the 33-year-old suited up for the game before being forced to leave early.
Before the setback, Evans recorded three catches for 94 yards, including a 54-yard reception. He sustained the injury after catching a 16-yard pass from quarterback Brock Purdy deep in Commanders territory.
With Evans sidelined, the 49ers face a depleted receiver corps as Deebo Samuel, Ricky Pearsall, Demarcus Robinson, Christian Kirk, and De'Zhaun Stribling are already out. Limited healthy options remain for the team moving forward.
In his first season with San Francisco, Evans is playing under a three-year, $42.4 million contract signed in March. The six-time Pro Bowl receiver has surpassed 1,000 yards in 11 of his 12 professional seasons.
