On Thursday, Far-right President Donald Trump asked supporters at a GOP convention in Dallas to vow fealty to him, urging them to "cheat like hell" in the November midterm elections.
With the GOP fearing losses in the House and Senate due to a crippled economy, Trump asked his base to pretend he is on the ballot to help Republican prospects nationwide.
Trump promised $5,000 checks to every United States adult if Republicans win the midterms, while warning supporters that those who do not vote this year would "go to hell."
Jonathan Cohn of Progressive Mass described the loyalty pledge as "the most on-brand Trump thing to do," while Amanda Carpenter of Protect Democracy United called the $5,000 offer a "bribe."
Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom denounced the loyalty pledge, noting that the November election presents voters with a clear choice between "America or Trump.
