UNC Basketball Recruit DeMarcus Henry Picks Tar Heels, Michael Malone
Henry chose the Tar Heels after a recruiting push that included a Michael Jordan call and a 19.0-point average last season.
- On Friday, five-star small forward DeMarcus Henry announced his commitment to North Carolina on ESPN's "NBA Today," choosing the Tar Heels over Arkansas, Kentucky, and Louisville.
- Head coach Michael Malone coordinated a personal recruitment call from NBA legend Michael Jordan, whom Henry called a "high-caliber" coach with "greatness to him."
- The 6-foot-7, 180-pound forward shot 52% from the field and 38% from three-point range last season in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League, positioning him as an elite three-and-D wing.
- This addition marks North Carolina's first for the 2027 class, helping Malone shift the program's narrative as it competes with Duke for recruiting dominance in the ACC.
- Ranked second among all players in the 2027 class, Henry offers Malone an opportunity to construct an elite freshman group, potentially swaying multiple top prospects to join the program.
