MetaOptics to Deploy its Direct Laser Writer at the nano@stanford Facility
The shared facility will support user demonstrations and technical validation as MetaOptics seeks to scale small-volume metalens production in the United States.
On Thursday, August 13, 2026, MetaOptics Ltd announced an agreement to install its Direct Laser Writer at the nano@stanford facility, supporting the company's strategic expansion into the USA.
Serving over 1,400 members, the nano@stanford facility provides an open, shared-use environment where MetaOptics plans to develop a "mini foundry" infrastructure for quick turnaround prototyping.
Utilizing a 4-inch glass wafer, the DLW enables fabrication of metalens samples within weeks, featuring a 100nm ultra high precision laser that allows simultaneous fabrication of over 100 metalens, each as small as 0.1mm in diameter.
MetaOptics Executive Chairman Thng Chong Kim said the collaboration allows the company to "strengthen technical validation" and gather user feedback, following acceptance into Stanford Engineering's SystemX Alliance Program.
The company plans to leverage this deployment to showcase technology to other SystemX Alliance Program members, including top USA technology companies, positioning the initiative as a launchpad for scaled commercial production.
