London police arrest more than 200 at protest backing banned group Palestine Action

Police said 700 to 800 people were willing to be arrested as officers resumed removals during the protest against the Palestine Action ban.

  • The Metropolitan Police confirmed that 212 individuals, ranging in age from 27 to 82, were arrested for showing support for a proscribed organization. Many of the detainees were seen sitting in camping chairs or using mobility aids as they were carried off by officers for holding signs that read, "I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action."
  • The arrests come despite a February 2026 High Court ruling which declared the government’s ban on Palestine Action "unlawful and disproportionate." However, because the Home Office was granted permission to appeal , the ban remains legally active, allowing police to continue making arrests under the Terrorism Act.
  • High-Profile figures joined the "Defend Our Juries" protest, including Robert Del Naja, who risked his ability to travel on future tours by holding a support placard. Other demonstrators dressed as suffragettes to draw parallels between current free speech restrictions and historical civil rights movements.
