All-New All-Electric Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 Sedan Rocks the Nurburgring Nordschleife With New Record
The 680-horsepower sedan set a segment record and finished about one second ahead of the latest Audi RS3, Mercedes-AMG said.
- On July 28, the all-electric Mercedes-AMG CLA45 set a record lap time of 7:32.070 at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, with driver Kevin Berger claiming the fastest vehicle title in its four-door segment.
- Three liquid-cooled, axial-flux motors delivering 671 horsepower power the sedan, while the Predictive Performance Manager system optimizes energy deployment based on track topography for consistent high-speed output.
- Equipped with Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS tires, the CLA45 finished over three seconds faster than the 641-horsepower Hyundai Ioniq 6 N, utilizing the 'RACE' strategy from the optional AMG Dynamic Plus package.
- Notable vehicles like the Audi RS3 and BMW M8 Competition were slower than the CLA45, which finished just a second behind a Porsche-conducted 911 GT2 record run from 2007.
- While the CLA45 showcases advanced engineering, Mercedes-AMG has confirmed it will not be sold in the United States; European buyers will receive the high-performance tri-motor setup instead.
