Pennsylvania Woman Scammed Out of $60,000 Aids FBI in Catching Suspect
The victim helped investigators stage a third pickup with $30,000 in fake bills before police stopped the suspect, court documents say.
A woman from McCandless, Pennsylvania, who was scammed out of $60,000, worked with police to trap a suspect accused of posing as a courier in the scheme.
The scam began with a false pop-up message claiming the victim had purchased child pornography; she then withdrew $25,000 on Oct. 8 at a Sheetz and $35,000 at a Dollar General.
Using $30,000 in imitation currency provided by the FBI, the victim arranged a third pickup at Kool Kones on Perry Highway. FBI agents observed a man take the box and drive away.
Police stopped the vehicle at an AAMCO on Perry Highway and identified the driver as Changsong Huang, who faces felony charges for his role as a courier.
Huang remains in ICE custody in Cambria County, where investigators learned he was facing an immigration hearing and potential deportation after being charged by McCandless police.
