Martin O’Neill: Hearts and Rangers Draw Best Result for Celtic’s Title Hopes
Kelechi Iheanacho scored the winner as Celtic stayed in the Premiership title race and O'Neill said a Hearts-Rangers draw would help.
On Sunday, Celtic defeated 10-man Hibernian 2-1 at Easter Road, keeping the team in the William Hill Premiership title race as Kelechi Iheanacho scored the decisive 72nd-minute winner.
Hibernian played with 10 men for 70 minutes after Jamie McGrath received a red card in the 20th minute for a reckless tackle on Alistair Johnston, though the Hibees equalized through Joe Newell.
Celtic manager Martin O'Neill expressed frustration that the team played better against 11 men, criticizing the VAR decision to award Hibernian's equalizer which appeared to strike Joe Newell's arm.
The Hoops moved level on points with table-topping Hearts, trailing on goal difference, and four points ahead of third-placed Rangers ahead of their Tynecastle clash on Monday evening.
O'Neill admitted he will be watching the Tynecastle clash, hoping for a draw so both rivals drop points, while acknowledging Celtic's title destiny is not entirely in their own hands.
