Martin Lewis Warns Households Not to Make Costly Energy Mistake as Prices Rise Again
Lewis said the cheapest fixes are about 8% below the current cap and may save households money before winter, though future rates remain uncertain.
Martin Lewis urges households on the Cap to consider Fixed deals now, warning that waiting could leave them paying more during expensive winter months.
Fixed deals are now more expensive, Lewis notes, having been 15% cheaper before Middle East conflict tensions began earlier this year.
Analysis by The Money Saving Expert shows cheapest Fixed deals are around 8% below the current Cap and roughly 11% below the Cap due in The October.
Households nearing the end of a Fixed deal face no early exit penalty during the final 50 days, allowing them to compare deals without termination charges.
The Government is scrapping VAT on electricity for six months from The October, providing a 4.8% reduction, while The January Cap is predicted to rise more than 10%.
