Alex Martin has been hired as the Burt County Independent editor.  While Martin’s career in journalism has predominantly been in the Midwest, youth was spent in California. After graduating from Chico State University in Chico, Calif., with a bachelor of arts in journalism, Martin served as sports editor for Harlan Newspapers in Harlan, Iowa, for three years.
