Marquez beat Johann Zarco by 0.140 seconds as the track dried, and several riders crashed in Q2.
- On Saturday, Ducati Team Marc Marquez secured his first pole position of the season at the Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez, clocking one minute and 48.087 seconds in wet conditions to edge out Johann Zarco by 0.140 seconds.
- Experience proved decisive as Marquez snatched the top spot from LCR Honda's Zarco, who advanced through Q1 and nearly lost control at the final corner during his last-gasp attempt to reclaim the lead.
- Racing's Giannantonio completed the front row in third behind Italian Marco Bezzecchi, while track conditions caused several riders including Alex Marquez and Fermin Aldeguer to crash during the second qualifying session.
- Reflecting on the narrow margin, Marquez added: "I feel like Johann will beat me on that last lap, because I knew that I did a mistake on the last corner, but he did even a bigger mistake."
- Championship leader Bezzecchi starts fourth on his Aprilia, while Jorge Martin, currently second in the standings, faces a three-place grid penalty following an incident during Friday's practice session.
