Manchester Airport named UK's worst for flight delays
AirAdvisor said 7.73% of Manchester departures were delayed more than an hour, while Heathrow and Cardiff had the lowest rates.
Manchester Airport recorded the highest rate of long delays in the UK over the past year, with 7.73 per cent of departures delayed by more than 60 minutes, according to AirAdvisor.
Handling around 75,000 daily passengers, Manchester is the UK's third-busiest airport after Heathrow and Gatwick, making the delay data significant for a substantial volume of travelers.
Data shows Birmingham Airport ranked second with 7.16 per cent of flights delayed, while Bournemouth and Southampton followed at 6.99 and 6.94 per cent respectively; London Heathrow and Cardiff recorded the lowest rates at 3.89 and 3.6 per cent.
Travellers arriving more than three hours late may claim up to £520 in compensation under UK261 regulations, with eligibility varying by flight distance.
AirAdvisor CEO Anton Radchenko cautioned that individual airport punctuality is "not necessarily an indication of an airport's overall reliability," citing weather and external factors beyond airport control.
