Man killed in daylight shooting at Surrey business

IHIT said no arrests have been made and asked witnesses to come forward as police investigate the city’s ninth homicide of the year.

  • On Monday, a man was shot dead in a broad-daylight attack at a business complex near 130 Street and 76 Avenue in Surrey. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team and Surrey Police Service are investigating.
  • This incident marks the second fatal shooting in the Newton neighbourhood in less than a week, following a shooting last Tuesday in the 6800 block of 148 Street that police suspect is linked to the ongoing gang conflict.
  • SPS Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton described the area as a "very busy business district" filled with pedestrians and vehicles, noting the shooting occurred in a building foyer.
  • No arrests have been made and no suspect descriptions have been released. IHIT is urging anyone with information to contact the information line at 1-877-551-4448.
  • The shooting marks Surrey's ninth homicide of the year, and while police have not confirmed if the incident is extortion-related, the complex houses several businesses including an insurance company and printing shop.
