Man fatally attacked by tiger at UK wildlife park told animal to 'stop being naughty'
The park said the tiger will not be euthanized as police investigate how the man entered the enclosure.
- On Saturday, a man died after entering the Land of the Tigers enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park and being attacked by Altai, a five-year-old Amur tiger.
- Moments before the attack, witnesses reported the man asked a visitor to photograph him with the tiger before climbing the fence, with one observer noting he appeared 'agitated.'
- South Yorkshire Police are investigating how the man entered the restricted area, while Yorkshire Wildlife Park remains closed Monday to provide specialist support for affected staff.
- Park organizers confirmed Altai is 'safe and well' and will not be euthanised, describing the tiger as 'very calm and receptive' following his arrival from Norway.
- Ticketholders will be contacted within five working days to reschedule bookings, the park said, apologizing for late notice regarding the closure during the ongoing investigation.
