Man dead after argument ends in gunfire, car crash in Fairfield

Deputies responded to the 300 block of 66th Street after reports of multiple shots fired. When they arrived, they found a 46-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds; he was transported to UAB Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Derrick Antonio Jones, 41, was discovered about one block away inside a crashed vehicle. He had several gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. A female was also inside the vehicle but was uninjured from the shooting.
