Man and woman in court amid investigation into attempted murder of two Police Scotland officers
Police said the officers were seriously injured after a van was deliberately driven at them during enquiries, and detectives searched more than 100 properties.
Police Scotland arrested a 32-year-old man on Tuesday on the M74 near Junction 8, charging him with the attempted murder of two officers injured in South Lanarkshire on Saturday, July 25.
Officers were carrying out inquiries at a property on Glen Avenue in Larkhall when a Renault Traffic was allegedly "deliberately driven at them," leaving two male officers, aged 41 and 43, seriously injured.
Detectives searched more than 100 properties throughout Lanarkshire and the Scottish Borders, reviewed extensive CCTV footage, and recovered the van in Kirkstyle Place, Glassford during the investigation.
Both the suspect and a 59-year-old woman are due to appear before Hamilton Sheriff Court on Wednesday, August 26, with the woman previously charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Detective Inspector Alister Thom confirmed the injured officers have been discharged but will remain unfit for duty for a prolonged period, while Police thanked members of the public for their support during the investigation.
