The European Athletics Championships in Birmingham ended in failure for the Czech team, for the first time in history they did not win a medal at a continental championship. The last hope, miler Kristiina Sasínek Mäki, took a solid seventh place, while Tereza Hrochová was in an equally good ninth place in the marathon.
For the first time in post-war history, Czech athletes did not win a medal at the European Championships. Kristiina Sasínek Mäki was the last to enter the fight for precious metals in Birmingham, finishing seventh in the 1500-meter run. The Czech record holder fell one place short of her best result from the continental championship in Munich 2022.
