Maine regulators issue warning letter for Belfast wetlands lapse

A conservation easement required in 1997 was never filed, leaving a 24-acre wetlands parcel unprotected and now listed for commercial development, DEP warned.

The lapse by federal and state regulators allowed a wetlands mitigation site in Belfast to be marketed for commercial development earlier this year, even though it was protected by a conservation easement.
