A magnitude 6.9 earthquake hits the coast of several islands south of Tokyo.

The earthquake occurred at 7:35 a.m. today, 8:35 p.m. GMT. And it took place at the depth of about 500 miles off the coast of the island of Osagawara on the south coast of Japan's capital city.
