The crossover adds new mechanics, rare shock lands and four Commander decks, with 250 hand-signed collector cards also confirmed.
On November 13, 2026, Wizards of the Coast will launch the Magic: The Gathering Star Trek Universes Beyond set, officially introducing a new way to lose the game based on Admiral Kirk's Kobayashi Maru scenario.
Designed to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Trek, this expansive Universes Beyond set introduces new mechanics like "Beam Me Up," "Strange New Worlds," and "Assimilate" to reshape Magic gameplay.
The set features four new Commander decks, including "Federation Fleet" and "Klingon Fury," alongside 10 collectible shock lands with unique LCARS computer-themed frames capturing the iconic Trek aesthetic.
Players can utilize the "Kobayashi Maru Scenario" enchantment to face "Dilemmas," modal spells offering choices like drawing cards or returning creatures, though these can lead to losing after three turns.
Collectors can hunt for 250 authentic autographed headliner cards found exclusively in collector boosters, a feature expected to drive demand as the November 13 release date approaches.
