Macklemore Claims LA Arenas Rejected 'Free Palestine' Benefit Tour: 'Trying to Silence Us'
Macklemore says venue operators withdrew dates after learning the shows would benefit Palestine, and he is seeking outdoor or independent alternatives.
On Friday, rapper Macklemore accused nine major U.S. arenas of refusing to host his "Free Palestine" benefit tour, stating he has never experienced anything like this in over 20 years of touring.
Previously, Macklemore was dropped from Ed Sheeran's tour in September after Gillette Stadium owner Robert Kraft allegedly pressured promoters over the rapper's pro-Palestine messaging at MetLife Stadium.
Venues including Madison Square Garden, Barclays Center, and Intuit Dome reportedly withdrew available dates once learning the shows benefited Palestine, while representatives did not respond to comment requests.
Macklemore vowed to continue, declaring "We build our own stages" and reaffirming his commitment to raising funds for Palestinian relief remains unchanged despite the rejections.
The artist noted this is "not an isolated incident" for entertainers supporting Palestinian causes and expressed regret for not speaking publicly sooner, while praising his sold-out European concerts.
