PV Sindhu Powers Past Hina Akechi, Enters French Open Final
Sindhu reached her second Super 750 final of the year after a 73-minute semifinal, setting up a title match with world No. 1 An Se-young.
On Saturday, PV Sindhu reached the French Open Super 750 final in Paris after defeating Japan's Hina Akechi 21-10, 20-22, 21-16 in a gruelling 73-minute semifinal.
Earlier in the tournament, Sindhu survived a spirited opening-round challenge from Thailand's Supanida Katethong, winning 21-14, 8-21, 23-21 after Katethong clawed back to level at 19-19 and 20-20.
The semifinal remained intensely competitive; Akechi forced a decider after Sindhu saved a game point at 20-20, with the crowd praising the quality of strokes displayed across the 73-minute encounter.
Facing reigning world champion An Se Young in Sunday's final, Sindhu confronts a formidable test; the South Korean has defeated the Indian in all ten previous meetings.
This appearance marks Sindhu's second Super 750 final of 2026, following her Japan Open title in July. She stated, "I'm really hoping this time I can convert that into a win.
