October 2, 2026 Contact: Angela Herrera Perez, Senior Public Information Specialist press@opportunity.lacounty.gov LA County DEO Extends Small Business Recovery Grant Application Deadline to October 9 for Businesses Impacted by the Lineage Fire and East Los Angeles Oil Spill Department of Economic Opportunity to Offer Two Days of In-Person Application Assistance in East Los Angeles on October 5 and 6 Los Angeles, CA – Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Chair Hilda L. Solis, Supervisor for the First District, and the Los Angeles County Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) today announced and extension of the Small Business Recovery Grant, providing direct financial assistance to eligible small businesses that experienced economic impacts related to the June 17, 2026 Lineage Fire and the May 22, 2026 East Los Angeles Oil Spill near E. Cesar E. Chavez Avenue and N. Eastern Avenue. The application deadline has been extended from October 2 to Friday, October 9, 2026, providing businesses with additional time to apply for the grants. Eligible small businesses located within County-designated impact areas may apply for grants of up to $3,000 for commercial brick and mortar small businesses and $1,000 grants for eligible home-based businesses with customer presence, sidewalk vendors, and mobile businesses. To help businesses take advantage of the extended application period, DEO will host two full days of one-on-one application assistance on Monday, October 5, and Tuesday, October 6, from 8:00am to 6:00pm at the East Los Angeles Entrepreneurship at El Centro de Maravilla located at 4716 E. Cesar E. Chavez Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90022. Support will be offered in both English and Spanish. The Small Business Recovery Grant was established through an investment from the First District funds under the leadership of Board Chair and First District Supervisor Hilda L. Solis to provide direct financial assistance to small businesses experiencing economic losses and business interruptions associated with the Lineage Fire and East Los Angeles Oil Spill. “Small businesses in East Los Angeles affected by the Lineage fire and oil spill have been dealing with disruptions that are outside their control,” said Los Angeles County Board Chair and First District Supervisor Hilda L. Solis. “These businesses should not have to face those challenges alone. We need to make sure they have access to the support available to them and the time they need to recover. Extending the deadline gives more owners an opportunity to apply, and I encourage every eligible small business to apply before the new deadline.” To qualify, businesses must be located within a County-designated geographic impact area associated with either the Lineage Fire or East Los Angeles Oil Spill and meet additional program requirements. Among other requirements, eligible businesses must have been operating at an eligible location for at least 30 days before the applicable incident, have 100 or fewer employees, have annual gross receipts of $6 million or less, and demonstrate or attest to a qualifying business disruption or economic impact associated with the incident. Applicants must also provide required information and documentation to verify eligibility. Businesses located outside of the designated geographic impact areas are not eligible for this grant. Businesses can review eligibility requirements, view the designated impact-area maps, and access the application at: bit.ly/SBRGEastLA. For additional application assistance, businesses may contact DEO’s Office of Small Business at (844) 432-4900 or osb@opportunity.lacounty.gov. For technical assistance with the online application, applicant may contact the application administrator, AidKit Support at (213)755-8163 or support@recoverygrant.aidkit.org. ### About DEO: The LA County Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) has a vision for a more equitable economy with thriving communities, inclusive and sustainable growth, and opportunity and mobility for all.
