Loblaw Companies Limited Enters into Automatic Share Purchase Plan to Purchase Common Shares of EQB
The broker may buy up to 10.6 million EQB shares, or 24.9% of the issuer, under the plan.
Loblaw Companies Limited announced yesterday an automatic share purchase plan to acquire EQB Common Shares following the sale of Choice Bank to EQB Inc.
This strategic move follows the recent closing of EQB's acquisition of Financial, which also added two Loblaw nominees to the EQB board.
Under the ASPP, Loblaw's broker may acquire up to 10.6 million shares, or 24.9% of outstanding EQB Common Shares, increasing the company's equity stake in the Issuer.
EQB and Loblaw will begin transitioning Bank clients to the EQB Bank platform in coming months, cementing EQB's role as exclusive financial partner of the Optimum loyalty program.
Exemptive relief granted by The Ontario Securities Commission allows Loblaw to purchase additional EQB Common Shares at its discretion outside the ASPP framework.
