A Navy Cross recipient from Brookhaven will be the subject of this month’s historical presentation by the Lincoln County Historical and Genealogical Society. In March 1942, Lt. Commander Hyram Cassedy assumed command of the USS Searaven, a 311-foot-long Sargo-class submarine, just three years old at the time.
