Linamar Closes Acquisition of German Iron Casting Plant
Linamar acquired a Leipzig iron casting plant with advanced technologies to boost its European commercial vehicle business, expanding its manufacturing capabilities, the company said.
- Guelph-based Linamar closed the roughly $72-million acquisition of an iron casting plant in Leipzig, initially announced on Oct. 7 as a 45-million-euro deal from Georg Fischer Ltd.
- The Leipzig purchase aims to expand Linamar Corporation's on- and off-highway commercial vehicle business and reinforce its regional presence near existing Linamar European facilities.
- The Leipzig plant includes onsite 3D-printing and prototyping as well as Europe’s largest moulding box for machine-moulded iron castings, aligning with Linamar Corporation’s casting, forging, metal forming, machining and assembly capabilities.
- The acquisition broadens Linamar's manufacturing footprint in Europe by adding the Leipzig plant and complements its November acquisition, which Linamar said would help serve customers.
- As a global manufacturer, Linamar has more than 36,000 employees in 86 manufacturing locations and generated sales of more than $10.5 billion in 2024, marketing brands such as Skyjack and MacDon while expanding in MedTech and Robotics.
