Republican Leslie Rutledge Wins Reelection for Lieutenant Governor in Arkansas
Rutledge, a former attorney general, won with 394,227 votes as AP projected a second term and unofficial results showed a wide lead.
The Associated Press projected Lieutenant Governor Leslie Rutledge won a second term, defeating Libertarian Michael Kalagias in the Arkansas statewide election.
Before assuming her current role in 2023, Rutledge served 8 years as Arkansas' attorney general. Her extensive government background positioned her for successful reelection.
Unofficial results show Rutledge secured 394,227 votes compared to 227,952 for Libertarian Michael Kalagias. This decisive margin confirmed her mandate from Arkansans.
As lieutenant governor, Rutledge remains first in the line of succession to the governor and presides over the state senate, casting tie-breaking votes when needed.
Moving forward, Rutledge plans to collaborate with Governor Sanders at the Capitol to improve state rankings and ensure Arkansans have support to live safely.
