Israeli President Isaac Herzog cannot legally grant Netanyahu a pardon unless he pleads guilty, lawyer Micha Fatman, who previously represented Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in his corruption trial, said on Tuesday.
Israeli media said that the only condition for pardoning Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of the Israeli occupation in corruption cases was a confession of guilt, after he had applied to the Israeli President for pardon.
Lawyer Kobi Sodri sharply criticized Netanyahu for requesting a presidential pardon, and told Anat Davidov and Prof. Aryeh Eldad: "I have not seen a single sentence that refers to the 'negligible' event called October 7."
A pardon under the conditions requested by the Prime Minister would be a death blow to the justice system and the rule of law, and would prove his claim that the vengeful Deep State has fabricated a case against him. His appeal does not give Herzog a single thread to cling to.
