Lawyer: Ex-NFL star Antonio Brown to avoid prison with reduced charge in attempted murder case
The deal would cut Brown’s attempted murder charge to aggravated assault and put him on probation, avoiding prison time and a felony conviction.
- Former NFL star Antonio Brown will accept a plea deal on Wednesday to resolve attempted second-degree murder charges stemming from a May 2025 shooting, his attorney Mark Eiglarsh confirmed.
- Prosecutors alleged Brown fought with Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu after a May 16, 2025 celebrity boxing event in Miami's Little Haiti, then took a gun from a security guard and fired two shots.
- Brown previously faced a minimum 20-year sentence that could have topped out at 30 years if convicted. Eiglarsh stated the deal will "dramatically reduce the criminal charge against him and result in probation rather than a prison sentence."
- Nantambu's attorney stated this month that his client has forgiven Brown and no longer wishes to participate in the prosecution, influencing the state's decision to offer the deal.
- Brown will appear in court on Sept. 30 to officially accept the plea agreement, where a hearing will be scheduled to make the terms final.
