M. F. Husain Museum at Qatar Foundation Named One of TIME World's Greatest Places 2026
TIME cited the museum’s 150-plus works and Husain’s final masterpiece, calling it a standout new cultural destination.
The M. F. Husain Museum in Doha, Qatar, was named one of the TIME World's Greatest Places 2026, marking a major milestone for the institution following its November 28, 2025, opening.
Commissioned by the Qatar Foundation, the Education City-based museum is the world's first and largest institution dedicated to Maqbool Fida Husain, with architecture designed by Martand Khosla from Husain's concept sketch.
Spanning over 3,000 square meters, the facility traces Husain's artistic journey through over 150 works and objects, including never-before-seen pieces from his Arab Civilization series.
Kholoud M. Al-Ali, executive director of community engagement and programming at Qatar Foundation, stated, "To be recognised as one of the TIME World's Greatest Places of 2026 is a significant accolade for Lawh Wa Qalam: M. F. Husain Museum."
Beyond static display, the museum fosters dialogue with South Asia, the Arab world, and the wider Global South, while incorporating Seeroo fi al ardh, Husain's final masterpiece, into its architectural design.
