Laurie Metcalf Admits She Hasn’t Spoken to Roseanne Barr Since She Was Booted From Show
Metcalf said the pair have not spoken since Barr’s 2018 ABC firing over racist tweets that led to Roseanne’s cancellation and The Conners reboot.
In a New Yorker interview published Monday, Laurie Metcalf revealed she has not spoken to former co-star Roseanne Barr in nearly 10 years following the comedian's 2018 dismissal from ABC.
ABC fired Barr in May 2018 after she posted a racist 2018 tweet comparing former President Barack Obama's adviser Valerie Jarrett to an ape, prompting the network to rebrand the series as The Conners.
For nine seasons, Metcalf starred as Barr's on-screen sister Jackie Harris, telling the New Yorker she was "intimidated" by the star when they first met because Barr was "self-made."
John Goodman, who played Barr's on-screen husband Dan Conner, said he hasn't spoken to the comedian in "about seven or eight years," adding he doubts she wants to talk to him.
Barr, now 73, later claimed that "God told" to send the tweet that derailed her career, while the spin-off The Conners continued on ABC until concluding in April 2025.
