Following the talks, Ukraine's top security official, Rustem Umerov, gave his most optimistic assessment to date, stating that the talks had made "substantial progress" and expressing hope that "an agreement would be reached before the end of today's talks."
US President Donald Trump is pleased with the outcome of talks between the US and Ukrainian delegations, an official said.
