Labrador’s northernmost caribou herd shows signs of growth, says survey report

Results from an aerial survey show the northernmost caribou herd in Labrador is getting bigger. The survey report says the population of the Torngat Mountains caribou herd is estimated at about 2,997 animals, including young calves. The estimate comes from a March 2024 aerial survey of an area of more than 26,000 square kilometres, carried out by the Torngat Wildlife, Plants and Fisheries Secretariat.
