La Junta mayor responds to public allegations of cover-ups, explains City has ‘no authority’ over cases handed to DA - La Junta Tribune-Democrat

La Junta’s regular city council meeting wasn’t without controversy, Monday, Aug. 17, after several speakers took the Council Chambers that evenings to confront officials over several controversial topics, incluidng a previously unanswered open records request, an alleged conflict of interest regarding an investigation into the police chief, evidence tampering and even cover-up allegations surrounding a child’s death.
