Kristaps Porzingis Reportedly Defying Warriors as His Whereabouts During Continued Absence Revealed
- On Oct. 21, ESPN's Shams Charania reported the Golden State Warriors have "started exploring trade routes" for Kristaps Porzingis, who is "seriously contemplating his future in basketball" due to health concerns.
- The Warriors announced on Oct. 14 that Porzingis would remain out indefinitely due to a "health-related matter" after meetings with general manager Mike Dunleavy and vice president of player health Dr. Rick Celebrini.
- According to ESPN's Anthony Slater, Porzingis' two-year, $40 million deal is only guaranteed for $3 million next season, which could prove valuable in executing a trade.
- Team sources express an "extreme level of pessimism" regarding Porzingis returning to the court, as his continued absence from team facilities suggests the organization's patience is being tested, Slater reported.
- Porzingis wrote on social media he is working with doctors to "figure out how to be fully back to good health ASAP," though there was "no indication" regarding a potential return to basketball.
