Kremlin Says No Plans for Putin-Trump Call, No Dates for US Envoys ...
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday there are no plans for a telephone call between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, and no dates are set for U.S. negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to visit Russia.
Despite the lack of a planned leadership call, Witkoff and Kushner continue to maintain contacts with Russia and Ukraine through existing channels, keeping discussions active.
On Monday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he held a "positive" conversation with Witkoff and Kushner, praising their readiness to work on a settlement in the coming weeks.
Peskov said Russia currently views potential European mediation as "unacceptable," claiming Europeans are more inclined to focus on continuing the war rather than peace talks.
The broader mediation process between Russia and Ukraine is currently on hold, having stalled in February after the United States and Israel began military action against Iran.
"As long as there are many cases on the Russian agenda," said Dmitry Peskov RTVI, responding to the question whether Vladimir Putin is going to call Donald Trump on June 14, or send him a greeting telegram, or perhaps the President of Russia wants it to be a surprise for the birthday boy.
