- A female law student was allegedly gang-raped on June 25 inside Kasba Law College, prompting a police investigation into the incident, with three suspects arrested shortly after the victim filed her complaint.
- The arrested individuals include Monojit Mishra, who is identified as a former student and current leader of the Trinamool Congress Chhatra Parishad .
- The victim reported that after refusing a marriage proposal from Mishra, he and two others attacked her, recording the assault and threatening to expose her if she spoke out.
