King Charles Strips 5 More People of Honours Including Former Royal Navy Officer
The forfeitures bring the total to 48 since August 2023, with two honours removed from Ben Key after an investigation into his conduct.
In October 2026, King Charles removed honours from five individuals, including former Royal Navy Chief Ben Key, who lost his knighthood and Commander of the Order of the British Empire .
The Royal Navy dismissed Admiral Key in June 2026 following an investigation into his conduct, with the Ministry of Defence stating he had fallen "far short of the values and standards expected."
Since August 2023, 48 honours have been forfeited for conduct bringing the system into disrepute, overseen by the Cabinet Office Forfeitures Committee, including 27 MBEs and 15 OBEs.
Accepting the review's outcome, Key said, "I deeply regret what happened and the impact my actions have had on others," acknowledging the need for accountability.
Other high-profile 2026 removals include former Democratic Unionist Party leader Jeffrey Donaldson, who lost his knighthood in July, while Paula Vennells, former Post Office chief executive, forfeited her CBE in February 2024.
