Sam Kerr Scores for Gotham FC in 2-2 Draw with the Portland Thorns
Kerr scored off a corner kick after returning to Gotham earlier this month, and Emily Sonnett left on a stretcher after an 11th-minute injury.
On Friday, forward Sam Kerr scored her first goal since returning to the NWSL, pulling Gotham into a 2-2 draw with Portland Thorns.
Guro Reiten found an unmarked Midge Purce in the second minute for Gotham's early lead, but Portland responded in the 21st minute with Renee Lyle's narrow-angle shot.
Gotham defender Emily Sonnett was taken off the field on a stretcher in the 11th minute, and the Thorns took the lead in the 53rd minute on a deflected shot from midfielder Jessie Fleming.
Before 21,743 fans at Providence Park, Thorns forward Morgan Weaver made her first appearance since November 2024, while Kerr drew a red card on Portland defender Jayden Perry in the 73rd minute.
In other NWSL action, Orlando Pride beat Chicago Stars 1-0, and Houston Dash topped Bay 1-0 on a 91st-minute goal by Linda Ullmark.
