Full Trailer: "Ken Russell's The Devils" In 4K
The uncensored director’s cut has been restored from the original camera negative and will open in select North American theaters on October 16.
- Warner Bros. unveiled a trailer for a new 4K restoration of Ken Russell's 1971 masterpiece, The Devils, opening in select North American theaters for a one-week engagement on October 16.
- This release marks a historic event 55 years in the making, finally presenting Russell's "uncut and unfiltered theatrical experience that Russell always envisioned" after the film remained largely unavailable for decades.
- The MPA rated the film NC-17 for "sexual content/graphic nudity," marking the first time Warner Bros. has released a film with this rating in the studio's 103-year history.
- Warner Bros. is partnering with the British Film Institute for the UK rollout, while the restoration was assembled from the original camera negative by Post Production Creative Services.
- Filmmaker Guillermo del Toro championed the restoration, saying "the restoration of the material is like cleaning the Sistine Chapel" and describing the epic scale as "insane" on the big screen.
