Controversial social media networking site Parler says it is being acquired by Kanye West. The platform, a favorite among American conservatives, made the announcement in a press release Monday. Parler was created in September 2018 as a free speech alternative to apps like Twitter and Facebook. The app's founding investor is Rebekah Mercer, a Trump supporter and major Republican donor. Parler has has more than 1.5 million users. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Parlement Technologies, the parent company of social media app Parler, said on Monday that it will be acquired by rapper Kanye West, who legally changed his name to simply Ye last year.

American rapper , who now goes by Ye, has agreed in principle to buy Parler, the social media platform popular among U.S. conservatives, parent company Parlement Technologies said on Monday.
