Beloved Scots Comedian Paul Sneddon Passes Away as Tributes Pour In
Fellow comedians and venues praised the 70-year-old as a supportive fixture of Scottish stand-up after his death was announced.
On Wednesday, The Stand Comedy Club announced the death of Scottish comedian Paul Sneddon, 70, who was widely known for his comedy characters Vladimir McTavish and Bob Doolally.
Sneddon had a 30-year career in stand-up and became a staple of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe; he previously discussed undergoing "three months of chemotherapy" at the start of the year.
Comedian Frankie Boyle paid tribute, saying Sneddon was "Just a great guy, and such an inclusive person," while fellow performers in Scotland remembered him as "kind" and "generous."
Beyond the stage, Sneddon served as joint chair of The Stand Comedy Club. The venue stated its thoughts are with his wife Christine and daughters Julia and Rosie.
The Stand Comedy Club stated it will "in time be marking his life appropriately," as colleagues remembered the veteran performer as a "giant of a man" despite his stature.
Paul Sneddon, the Scottish comedian also known to the public as Vladimir McTavish, has died at the age of 70. His colleagues are paying their respects with touching words.
